HIKING CLUB GUIDELINES

1) CHOOSE YOUR HIKE. Please read the Guidelines and Hike Descriptions carefully. They will tell you the distance and the elevation. It is very important to understand what each hike entails. As a general rule, you will be able to manage the EASY or EASY/MODERATE hikes if you are able to comfortably walk four (4) miles in Sun City. Difficulty of hikes is listed below. If you are uncertain about your ability to do a hike, consult with the hike leader. They are experienced with the hike they are leading and are happy to answer your questions.
EASY: Up to 400′ elevation gain and up to 4 miles length.
EASY/MODERATE: Between 401′-550′ elevation gain and up to 5 miles length
MODERATE: Between 551′-700′ elevation gain and up to 6 miles length
MODERATE/ADVANCED: Between 701′-1000′ elevation gain and up to 7 miles length
ADVANCED: Any hike beyond the standards listed above

2) PREPARE FOR YOUR HIKE. Prepare for your hike by having appropriate footwear, clothing, water, and food/snacks.  If you do not know how to prepare or what to bring, contact the hike leader. We are in the desert and water is essential when hiking. Plan to carry a minimum of 1 quart/liter of water with you on your hike.

3) CHECK IN FOR YOUR HIKE. All hikes depart from the Lakeview parking lot, NE end – farthest point away from
clubhouse. Hike check-in time is listed with each separate hike description. Check-in time is 15 minutes before
departure for sign-in and orientation.

4) RULES ON THE TRAIL. These are group hikes and you must stay with the group — behind the hike leader and ahead of the sweep at the rear. If you need to leave the hike early, please notify the leader. There is no smoking on the trail.
