Now that it’s getting to warn for valley hiking, so let’s go to the high country.
This hike is in San Jacinto Park at the top of the Tram.
We will do the Round Valley Loop trail. This is an excellent day hike encompassing much of the valley between the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and Mount San Jacinto. Hiking the loop in a counterclockwise direction takes one up a steady climb alongside a seasonal creek to Round Valley.
It then travels along the southern rim of the valley with great views of Mt. San Jacinto and other nearby peaks before dropping back into the valley and the Tram Station area. Many other trails, including the hike to San Jacinto peak itself, branch off from this loop.
Please note: at least one liter of water is required for this hike and there is a $32.00 Tram pass required unless you have a pass.
After the hike we can have lunch on the mountain at the restaurant.
We will meet at the Lakeview parking lot at 9:15. The 1st tram is at 10:00 am and we should be on that.
